What is Reiki?

Reiki (pronounced Ray-Key) is a Japanese word consisting of two parts:  "Rei" meaning "Divine", or "Universal" and "Ki" meaning "Energy", or "Spirit".  So this treatment can be considered a way of using this... "Divine Energy", "Divine Spirit", "Universal Energy", or "Universal Spirit"... to bring the body back to wellness.

Reiki is a Japanese relaxation therapy in which Divine energy is channeled into the body to reduce stress and allow the body to re-balance and heal itself.  Reiki is a gentle, peaceful, non-invasive therapy which can provide an individual with healing and balance in all areas of their Being, including mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual.  Although the therapy is very gentle, the affects are profound.  The energy of the therapy works deep in the energetic fields of the body bringing about subtle transformation until the individual is restored to wholeness.

What is a Reiki Therapy session?

A Reiki therapy session is very soothing and relaxing.  The person receiving the therapy remains fully clothed and either reclines in a comfortable chair, or on a massage table.  The practitioner channels the Reiki energy through their hands and moves the hands slowly down the client's body, from head to toe, allowing the energy to "penetrate" along the way.  The practitioner's hands may lightly touch the client's body, or they may be held just above the body, so no actual contact is made.  Clients often feel heat where the practitioner's hands are rested and tingling through the body as the energy works.

Plan about 1 to  1 1/4 hrs for a typical Reiki session.  This will allow for the Reiki treatment and for discussion before and after the session.  Also, be gentle with yourself after the session ... treat yourself to some quiet time to enjoy the relaxing benefit of the Reiki before you resume you daily activities, and drink plenty of water (this will help your body to more easily integrate the energy).

Do I need to be of a certain "Religion" or "Belief  System" for this to help?

No.  Reiki does not belong to any religion or belief system.  It is used by persons of all faiths and beliefs.  The only "condition" placed on having a session is the willingness to allow the treatment to happen.  Your permission, however skeptical or uncertain, is enough to allow the Reiki to help you where and how your body needs it to assist.

How much does a session cost?

A session normally costs $60USD, but I offer 1/2 off the first session.  Call me to schedule a session or if you have questions about the cost of the therapy.
